Calgary Hitmen Teddy Bear Toss Celebrates 25th Year
Sunday, December 1, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta
The Calgary Hitmen battled the Red Deer Rebels at the Saddledome on Sunday. The Teddy Bear Toss also took over the Saddledome yesterday marking its 25th year.
Thousands of teddy bears and stuffed toys were thrown onto the Saddledome rink when Calgary Hitman forward Carson Focht scored the team’s first goal in the first period at 1:34.
Although the Calgary Hitmen lost 3-2 in overtime, the generosity of the fans was outstanding. Over the past 25 years the Hitmen have provided the community with 402,608 teddy bears.
Today, Monday December 2, 2019, Highland Moving helped distribute some of the 25,025 stuffed toys to Stephen’s Backpacks Society, an agency dear to our hearts. More than 70 agencies receive donated bears this holiday season, including Stephen’s Backpacks.
